Discovering and creating TONUS

 TONUS is the outcome of exploring, of contact with material, and of play.
In the year 2005 I created for myself a period of absolute free exploration, a sort of therapeutic, creative retreat.
This was following a very busy period in my work life that had left me exhausted.

While concentrating on creating grooves and hollows in wood, an idea was born: Why not try and fill them with resin?
Days and nights at the studio were spent in frustrating attempts and failures.
At the beginning I was not sure whether two such contrasting materials could adhere to each other.
However, something in the nature of these two opposing worlds attracted me and urged me to go on experimenting.
Gradually, step by step, I discovered the magic and the promise of combining wood and resin and the adventure began taking momentum.
I began introducing TONUS in my creations - in the furniture in the and in the lighting units - and learning the secrets of these two materials when combined.
When does it adhere? When can't it? What is the significance of a line? Of a curve? A new technology was in the making.

This is has been an exciting process of research and discovery in a world of matter and creation.
